Prosthetics is that part of dentistry that deals with the replacement of missing teeth in the oral cavity. The term dental prosthesis means a series of treatment options, among which it is chosen together with the patient, programming the best solution both functionally and aesthetically for him.

Crown/tooth case

When the crown of the tooth is badly damaged by the carious process or accidental trauma and its reconstruction with composite is unstable, there is a need for the crown to be reinforced with a fixed dental crown/dental case. Dental crowns are available in different materials. The most usable are metal porcelain, ceramic, zircon, ceramic gold, ceramic palladium crowns.

Fixed prosthesis

When one or more teeth are missing in the dental arch, both maxillary and mandibular, it becomes necessary to replace the lost tooth or teeth with artificial teeth. The fixed prosthesis is an optimal solution that restores both function, aesthetics and phonetics with great comfort for the patient, given that it is immobile. The fixed prosthesis consists of the artificial teeth that will be placed in the empty space and the two dental crowns/cases that will wear the supporting teeth that stand at the edges of the empty space. Support teeth can be natural teeth, dental implants or even a combination of both. Prosthodontic considerations vary by the area where the space is located, the number of teeth missing, the position of the teeth at the edges of the space (supporting teeth), the condition of the periodontium which includes the gums and jawbone as well. All these evaluations are analyzed by the doctor and then he determines the most sustainable and optimal treatment plan according to each case.
To realize a fixed prosthesis, the supporting teeth must meet certain criteria to enable the work. When they are not suitable to ensure stability, do not have at least an equal crown root ratio, are too inclined, when we have periodontal problems and the teeth have mobility or when the space where the teeth are missing is very large, they come to our aid dental implants as an excellent solution for the successful realization of fixed prosthesis.

Removable partial dentures

These types of prostheses are used when one or more teeth are missing. When we say removable prostheses it means that they can be removed and replaced, which is seen as a slight disadvantage compared to other types. They come as a solution when it is impossible to place a fixed prosthesis. Removable partial dentures are connected to existing teeth via wires or attachments that are integrated connecting devices. The types of removable prostheses are?: simple plastic prostheses with wires, metal skeletonized prostheses with hooks or attachments, specific prostheses (when we have a lack of end teeth of the dental arcade?), elastic prostheses without wires (dental company VALPLAST).

Total removable prosthesis

In the situation where the patient no longer has any teeth left in the mouth, we must perform a total replacement of all the teeth in the dental arch to restore the function and aesthetics. For many years, the total removable prosthesis has been used, which is plastic and the patient puts it on and takes it off from the mouth easily. Even for the realization of this prosthesis, a healthy jaw bone is required on which the prosthesis will be supported.
If the patient chooses to have a removable total prosthesis, but the jawbone where the prosthesis will be supported does not provide stability, then the placement of 2 dental implants is suggested as an excellent solution to realize the support of this prosthesis.
