Description

Dental Aesthetics

Nowadays, aesthetics has a special importance and since the face and in particular the mouth and teeth play an important role, the need for the development of aesthetic dentistry has arisen. People love beauty, so in cases where there are problems with someone's smile, then by means of specific techniques, super aesthetic materials and surgical interventions, a perfect smile is realized. Professional cleaning in our clinic is carried out in three stages: Cleaning with vibrating tip, Cleaning with Airflo®️ and finally cleaning with paste and microbrush. This procedure enables, in addition to the aesthetic aspect, a protection of the teeth through a polish that is given in the last phase, which makes it difficult for dirt to settle and the formation of stones.
Teeth cleaning is suggested at least once every six months.

How does bleaching happen (work)?

The materials used for bleaching are: Carbamide Peroxide and Hydrogen Peroxide (oxygenated water). These two substances have the ability (quality) to pass freely through the layers of the tooth (enamel, dentine) and spread to all parts of the tooth. These Peroxides (Carbamide and Hydrogen peroxide) break down into oxygen radicals, which enter between the prisms of the enamel (the outer layer of the tooth), dispersing (dissolving) the colored molecules that affect the color of the tooth. Bleaching does not affect the tooth structure. It's just that the inner color of the tooth becomes whiter (lighter). Whitening agents break down into smaller molecules and move in all directions within the tooth. Even if the entire tooth is not covered with bleach, it is all whitened.
Numerous scientific studies have proven the effectiveness of peroxides in teeth whitening. Enamel and dentin (the two layers of the tooth), existing fillings and porcelain are not affected, affected or damaged by bleaching agents.

Does bleaching affect the bond between the filling and the tooth?

Although bleaching agents release large amounts of oxygen to the teeth, the bonds of the existing fillings with the teeth are not affected, but if white fillings are to be made after whitening, then it is necessary to wait 7-10 days, since the high amount of oxygen in the teeth negatively affects the bond filling with the tooth (for the new fillings that will be done).

How long does the whitening effect last?

Whitening results are permanent. However, depending on eating habits and lifestyle, periodic repetition of whitening may be needed, every two years.
To maintain the whitening effect unchanged, regular use of the whitening paste advised by the doctor is recommended.
